House of Twelve Monthly #2
For about a year, Team 12 has been devising a brutal plan to invade our readers’ personal lives in new insidious ways. That’s why we are proud to announce our new digital anthology seriesHouse of Twelve Monthly, available exclusively through Comixology’s mobile app, Comics, for your iPhone and iPod Touch.
After our nearly summer long “discussions” with distributors and Apple, Inc. over content we’ve finally been able to reach an agreement and release House of Twelve Monthly #2, and it’s beautiful. This isn’t one of those, “Oh, that might be nice to check out.” This issue is a must buy, and at over 70 plates for $1.99, it’s pretty hard to turn down.
We’ve put together a stellar cast of the indie/alt/whatever comics community and unleashed them onto the internet, and more importantly, directly into your pocket. Each issue of House of Twelve Monthly features four artists pulled from our rotating pool of amazing contributors. The most recent issue includes such notable bastards as:
Fred Noland, whose award winning comics and illustrations have graced innumerable alt-weekly newspapers and magazines.
David Paleo, often referred to as a cartoonists-cartoonist, we offer you this unique opportunity to check out one of South America’s best kept secrets. “Hey, Amazon Jungle, keep your fucking City of Gold, I’ll take David Paleo.”
Dave McKenna is a motherfucker of a cartoonist who leaves nothing but nuclear-irradiated, naked spacechicks in his wake, whatever that means.
Kate Lacour’s Milk-Teeth lit up 2009 with nothing but raves from fans and critics a-like, now everyone can get their hands on her off-kilter whimsy.
Cheese Hasselberger starts off a new ongoing series “Richard Sharver and the Hollow Earth” described as, “totally fucked up” by several comics luminaries — and that’s just the first chapter.
Also available is the debut issue of House of Twelve Monthly, featuring stories by Miss Lasko-Gross, Darryl Ayo, K. Thor Jensen and Sam Henderson. Now on sale for the low, low price of a buck.
House of Twelve Monthly is available now through Comixology’s free app, Comics, for the iPhone/iPodTouch/iPad and on the web at comics.comixology.com.
Cheese Hasselberger
House of Twelve Team Captain Cheese Hasselberger spent years working in animation, video games and graphic design before returning to comics in 2001. Since then he has acted as editor, publisher and contributor to every issue of Ho12. He maintains this site, the NYC Comic Jam and his own personal blog, the Cheese Log. Currently he is working on the sci-fi epic, Richard Sharver and the Hollow Earth, serialized in House of Twelve Monthly.
Nick Jeffrey
Nick Jeffrey is a 2004 Xeric Grant winning artist with a B.F.A. in illustration and an S.T.D. in gynecology. His Xeric Grant winning comic book Centerfield was reviewed by Time Magazine. He’s appeared in True Porn 2, House of Twelve #3 & #5, All About Fucking, Backwash Magazine, Riverwurst Comics and several other comic books with hilariously inappropriate titles. He has also self published several comics of his own, including Hillbilly Sex, The Short Term and Disco Slaughterhouse. Nick Jeffrey enjoys whiskey, hardcore pornography, and Hulk Hogan (often at the same time).
Fred Noland
Fred Noland draws from a deep well of inspiration ranging from
the Expressionists to Underground Comics.
His illustrations have appeared in the SF Weekly, LA Weekly, Tennis, Bike, Nickelodeon, Canoe and Kayak, Illinois Times, XboX Magazine, TokyoPop, Santa Fe Reporter and more. His sequential art has been featured in the Cartoon Art Museum, and the Oakland Museum the OAK
installation. He has also taken part in group shows at San Francisco’s SOMARTS and Amaru Galleries and RPS in Oakland.
Sam Henderson
Sam Henderson is the funniest writer in comics, hands down. He is a comic genius. That would be quite enough, thank you. But he also happens to be a shrewd observer of human nature, media cliches, pretension, and teen movies. Sam Henderson’s boisterously entertaining work has been charming readers for years on the SpongeBob SquarePantstelevision show, newspapers across the U.S., inNickelodeon magazine, in DC Comics’ Cartoon Network Presents, and in comics anthologies all over the place. With Magic Whistle, Sam Henderson unleashes his fantastic ongoing series for Alternative Comics. If you can read Magic Whistle without laughing, you are not human.
When asked, Sam has graciously created some funny comics for House of Twelve Monthly.
Miss Lasko-Gross
Miss Lasko-Gross’ two autobiographical graphic novels,Escape from ‘Special’ and A Mess of Everything are award-winning masterpieces, run over to fantagrphics.com and buy them today.
Miss is currently working on a new graphic novel, Henni, the first chapters being available exclusively through House of Twelve Monthly.
Victor “Bald Eagles” Cayro
Bald Eagles/The Beard/Merc Gryphon/Victor Cayro has been in Legal Action Comics 1 & 2, True Porn, House of Twelve #3 & 4, Study Group 12, Typhon and Kramer’s Ergot. To quote Hunter S. Thompson, “One of God’s own prototypes. Some kind of high powered mutant never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.”
